The effective CV
Firstly, you need to have a clear idea of what the purpose of your Curriculum
Vitae (CV) is. The objective is getting the chance of arranging an interview.
You should present yourself as the suitable candidate for the position you are
interested in. It means not to lie, but highlighting the aspects you think could
be better according to that concrete position.
Here we give you some hints
Get attention: you need them to choose your CV among many
others, so you should make its different to get attention. Make it as short as
possible and as long as necessary more then 3 pages nobody will have a look at.
Use a nice font and format and put the most important stuff on the first page. A
photo always helps to remember a paper better, but just if it's a good one,
better invest in a photographer before you cut out and scan a photo which is out
of date or not professional.
Arouse interest: the person that will read your CV will
spend just 30 seconds having a look so be careful with orthography and grammar,
as well as the layout you choose. Also, be focused on the main points, and
forget about the irrelevant information.
Sell yourself as a good candidate: the recruiter may have
two questions in mind: would be able this person to assume the responsibilities
concerning the position, and also, if he/she will be able to develop and grow
within the company.
To be contacted: do not forget to include in your personal
details a contact phone number and email address.
Pay attention to the details: make sure that your professional
goals are a good fit for that position. Find out what is the company‘s style,
their working method and way of thinking, and of course the requirements about
the type of people they are looking for!
